A Preprint Platform and Youth Academic Community for Technology Governance Research

SLE Specula is a preprint platform and youth academic community dedicated to technology governance-related research. We aim to let great research be seen sooner and let outstanding scholars be discovered earlier.

We focus on a broad range of interdisciplinary fields at the intersection of technology, law, ethics, policy, and social governance, including but not limited to AI governance, data governance, platform governance, technology law, digital society, algorithmic governance, technology ethics, and public policy. We encourage young researchers to share their work, exchange ideas, and participate in public academic discussions in a more open, rapid, and accessible way.

As a preprint platform, SLE Specula supports the early dissemination and version-based updating of research outputs, allowing work to be read, discussed, and improved before formal publication. We believe that academic research should not only become visible after official publication; new ideas, new methods, and new problem awareness also deserve to enter public discussion at an earlier stage.

At the same time, SLE Specula is also a scholarly community for emerging researchers. We hope to provide PhD students, early-career scholars, independent researchers, and interdisciplinary researchers with a platform where they can be more easily seen, connected, and engaged in academic exchange. By lowering informational and resource barriers within academia, we seek to foster mutual support, collaboration, and intellectual growth among researchers.

Beyond preprint dissemination, the platform has also established academic recommendation and community recommendation mechanisms, enabling high-quality manuscripts to be more efficiently recommended to partner journals. Authors may obtain recommendations either through academic recommenders or through platform-based community display, interaction, and academic evaluation processes. We hope to explore a more open, diverse, and youth-friendly model of academic discovery beyond traditional publication systems.

SLE Specula does not seek to replace traditional journals or formal peer review. Instead, we hope to become a new entry point for academic exchange: allowing research to circulate earlier, discussions to emerge sooner, and more promising young researchers to be seen by the world.
